The difference of metal detector and x ray scanner in food industry
Food metal detector and x ray scanner
To inspect for foreign material during food processing, both x-rays and metal detectors are available.
x-ray inspection system for food
The method that each machine inspects foreign material is what makes metal detectors different from x-ray inspection system.
Conductivity is used to detect stainless steel, ferrous and non-ferrous metals in products. X-ray inspection is based on density differences between foreign bodies and the product. This allows for greater foreign material detection. They can be used to locate metal, glass, stone and bone, as well as gaskets (both metal and non-metal detectable), and plastic.
Due to the nature of some products, certain inspection systems are not applicable to them. Metal packaging such as metallized foil cannot be accurately inspected using a metal detector and must be inspected using an x-ray inspection device.
A consultation is the best way to decide which option is right for you. We can test your product on various systems with certified test cards or foreign material samples. This will give you a formal report about the performance and capabilities of each technology.
Viking detector believes validation testing of your products is an important step in selecting the right system for you.
